Let them play hardball.

Building leaders, providing mentorships, and creating an environment of acceptance and encouragement for girls through the sport of baseball.

THE EVOLUTION OF EVOLUTION

Coach Alex and Coach Rocky were teammates in the women’s professional league, LPBL, and remained good friends after the league ended. In 2015, when the inaugural Baseball For All Nationals was announced they decided to create a team and attend the ground breaking event. Inspired by the movie quote, “If you build it they will come,” and with the support of the San Francisco Park and Rec, the SF Bay Sox were formed. Named after the first team Rocky and Alex played on together, the SF Bay Sox provided a place for girls in the Northern California area to play, for the first time, with and against other girls! We traveled to play in Orlando, Florida taking 3rd place. The overall experience of firsts created a bond that was indescribable and the group was excited to continue the adventure together.

The team stayed together as the Bay Sox grew into a Park and Rec staple for many local girls. As the SF mission and goals changed, the initial Bay Sox group grew into what is now Evolution Girls Baseball. Although we lost a couple and added a couple (and one returned to coach) within the first three years, a core group of 8 remained until they all aged out together in 2021. Having attended all six BFA Nationals, as of 2021, we are the four time National Champions in the top age division!

Due to the success of both the Evolution program and girls baseball across the country, we decided in 2018 to expand the opportunities into women’s tournament play. In addition to our 18U National team, our organization now develops teams for girls and women 15 and older to attend the Diamond Classic and Roy Hobbs tournaments which take place on the East Coast. We provide competitive teams with highly experienced coaching staff and invite players from all over the country to join us.

We are excited to have a program that not only develops baseball players but also focuses on the growth of the individual and builds character outside of the game. We have built our program around more than just teaching the game, but through building leaders, providing mentorships and creating an environment of acceptance and encouragement where they can engage with others who are passionate about baseball. As baseball across the globe continues to evolve, so does our organization! We are excited to be adding camps and clinics in Northern California beginning the summer of 2022 and moving toward international opportunities in 2023.
